A Poem To Two People

you cannot steal what's already yours

you can't lock a siren song behind closed doors

you can't stifle beauty if it's deep in the soul

you can't break asunder what isn't yet whole

you cannot keep water from flowing from your hand

you cannot separate tide from sand

you cannot give what you never possessed

you cannot lay a love, already dead, to rest.

Try me.
