Think I wanna start a Harry Potter Website. Set up a big chart with all known facts that might help figure out the plot for the next 3 books. The thing that's bothering me now is this:
1) according to Book #4 (Goblet of fire), The Whomping Willow wasn't planted 'til after Mrs. Weasley left school. It was planted the year Remus Lupin came to school, which was the same year James Potter and Sirius Black came. This means that Mrs. Weasley is at least 7 years older than James Potter, Harry's dad. Fair enough.
2) We know that Charlie Weasley left school 7 years before Harry got there (since Gryfindor haven't won the Quidditch cup since he left, 7 years before, according to books #1 and 2), which makes him 25ish. And THAT makes Mrs. Weasley about 45.
3) Hagrid has to be around 60. In book #2, Harry's taken back 50 years into Tom Riddle's memory, to when Hagrid was expelled. Hagrid was expelled in his 3rd year, which would make him 13 or 14. So he'd be about 64.
4) The first two books tell us that Hagrid was trained as gamekeeper after he was expelled. Which means he's been a gamekeeper for the last 50 years. Longer than Mrs. Weasley's been alive.
5) Mrs. Weasley "reminisced at length about the gamekeeper before Hagrid, a man called Ogg" in the 4rd book. She would have been at school 30 years ago.
6) It's doubtful Hagrid's training took 23 years.
There are some other discrepancies, but I'll talk about those later. Everything's good :)
